South Korea's flagship i-SMR is an integral PWR producing 170 MWe, developed by a consortium led by KHNP and KAERI. It completed conceptual and basic design phases in 2023–2025 and is preparing to submit a Standard Design Approval application targeting approval in 2028. South Korea passed a Special Act on SMR Development in February 2026, establishing a five-year basic plan. Targets construction permits in early 2030s and commercial operation by 2035.
