Washington D.C.-based Curio announced on May 29, 2026 that it submitted a letter of intent to the NRC to establish a docket for preapplication engagement activities for its NuCycle used nuclear fuel recycling facility — the first such application for a commercial used nuclear fuel recycling facility in the United States. Curio CEO Ed McGinnis: "The initiation of this application process marks a key and decisive moment for Curio and our nation as we commercially deploy what will be the world's most advanced and capable used nuclear fuel recycling facility based on our game-changing NuCycle technology."
