Curio is a Washington D.C.-based nuclear technology company developing NuCycle — described as the world's most advanced and capable used nuclear fuel recycling facility. Curio submitted a letter of intent to the NRC for preapplication engagement on NuCycle on May 29, 2026. CEO Ed McGinnis (former DOE senior official) stated the NRC engagement "marks a key and decisive moment for Curio and our nation." Curio also announced alongside this that both Oklo and Flibe Energy were selected by DOE for advanced negotiations to receive surplus US plutonium — nuclear fuel recycling companies being top priorities for domestic plutonium utilisation.
