KHNP is South Korea's state nuclear operator and the lead developer of the i-SMR (170 MWe integral PWR). In January 2026, KHNP invested $40 million to acquire a stake in TerraPower — the first direct investment by a Korean public energy enterprise in an SMR developer. KHNP is also expanding internationally, winning a contract to build APR-1000 units in the Czech Republic and signing MoUs for SMR cooperation in the Philippines and Singapore.
