Rolls-Royce SMR develops standardized, factory-built small modular nuclear power stations. Its design is a three-loop, close-coupled pressurized-water reactor producing 1,358 MWt of heat, with a boron-free primary circuit and multiple safety, redundancy and backup systems. On 13 April 2026, Rolls-Royce SMR and Great British Energy–Nuclear signed a contract to begin site-specific design, regulatory engagement, planning and critical-component procurement for three units at Wylfa in North Wales.
