The NSSC cleared Saeul Unit 3 (APR-1400) for initial criticality on April 10, 2026, with criticality achieved two days later. Commercial operation is expected around August 2026. Saeul Unit 4 is expected to follow in late 2026. The Saeul plant (also known as Shin Kori 5 and 6) represents the newest APR-1400 units in South Korea's rapidly expanding fleet and demonstrates KHNP's continued ability to construct and commission world-class nuclear plants on schedule.
