Proposed nuclear power project at Dhuvaran in Gujarat of around 4,000 MW with potential investment of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore, announced by the state government when GSECL signed an MoU with NPCIL on October 1, 2026 (GSECL's entry into nuclear power). The MoU sets a framework to identify and assess suitable sites and the technical feasibility of new nuclear projects. The project is subject to feasibility studies and statutory approvals, and the reactor technology has not been selected. The Department of Atomic Energy has also been discussing large reactors, small modular reactors, site identification and technical studies with Gujarat.
