Notes

First American Nuclear submitted its regulatory engagement plan for the EAGL-1 lead-bismuth cooled fast reactor to the NRC in April 2026. The company is partnered with Indiana's LEAP Research and Innovation District in Boone County — where Eli Lilly signed an LOI for co-located SMR power. Indiana has spent $985 million on land acquisition and site assessment for the LEAP district. The EAGL-1's closed fuel cycle eliminates 95% of long-lasting nuclear waste and a PNNL review found it licensable under existing NRC criteria.
