Following the June 2025 $70 million SMR service centre announcement, GE Vernova Hitachi is advancing Phase 2 planning for expanded BWRX-300 operational support infrastructure in Ontario. The service centre model is designed to support not just the four Darlington units but to become the global hub for BWRX-300 operations serving deployments in Poland, Estonia, UK, Southeast Asia, and the US. GE Vernova Hitachi is also exploring a similar service hub in the US for the TVA Clinch River programme.
