Planning for two large nuclear reactors with an initial goal of more than 2,000 MW in northwest Saskatchewan along the North Saskatchewan River, announced 29 September 2026 in the provincial plan Delivering Energy Security Through Nuclear Power (at least 2,600 MW by 2050). Sites and reactor technology are not yet selected: technology selection is slated for 2026-2027 and site identification for 2027-2030, in consultation with local communities and Indigenous peoples. First reactor targeted online by 2042; no cost estimate has been given.
