South Africa's HTMR-100 project secured a ZAR 9 billion (approximately USD 480 million) financing deal between Koya Capital and Stratek Global. The high-temperature gas-cooled modular reactor design targets industrial heat and electricity applications. South Africa is the only African country currently producing nuclear power (Koeberg plant) and aims to leverage existing nuclear expertise for SMR deployment.
