Notes

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is developing the BSMR-200 — a 200 MWe Bharat Small Modular Reactor — as India's primary indigenous SMR design under the ₹20,000 crore Nuclear Energy Mission. Five indigenous SMRs are targeted for deployment by 2033 under the SHANTI Act. BARC is also developing the SMR-55 (55 MWe) and a High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor of up to 5 MWth for hydrogen generation. The SHANTI Act's FDI provisions and removal of supplier liability are expected to attract international technology partnerships for the indigenous SMR programme.
