Notes

India launched a Nuclear Energy Mission in its 2025 Union Budget with INR 20,000 crore (approximately $2.4 billion) allocated for SMR R&D. India targets 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047, with SMRs playing a central role. During PM Modi's February 2025 US visit, India-US agreed to pursue advanced SMR collaboration with large-scale localisation and technology transfer. France and India signed a Declaration of Intent on co-developing SMRs in February 2025. Three Indian nuclear entities were removed from the US export control list in January 2025.
