Bulgaria is building two new AP1000 units at the existing Kozloduy nuclear power plant site. An engineering contract was signed in November 2024 with Hyundai Engineering and Westinghouse. In December 2025, a consortium of Laurentis, CNPSA and BWXT Canada signed an owner's engineer contract. Unit 7 is targeted for operation in 2035.
Kozloduy Unit 7 remains in the planning, engineering, and licensing phase. The proposed 1,150 MWe unit would use Westinghouse AP1000 technology, with commercial operation currently targeted for 2035.
