Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is developing the DS300 SMR (Deployable Modular SMR) for Japan and export markets. Japan restarted multiple large reactors after Fukushima and public support for nuclear reached 70% in 2025 polls. The Japanese government is actively supporting SMR development as part of its Green Transformation strategy. Japan is also participating in IAEA SMR multilateral reviews and has signed nuclear cooperation agreements with multiple SMR-active countries.
