GS Energy signed an MOU with Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province to deploy a NuScale VOYGR-6 SMR plant within the planned Uljin Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex. Construction expected to begin 2028 with completion by 2030 when the industrial park opens. GS Energy will operate the plant supplying electricity and heat to hydrogen production. South Korea has discussed investment in NuScale's Tennessee SMR programme as part of its $200 billion US investment commitment. Doosan Enerbility and Samsung C&T are key Korean partners. GS Energy invested $40M and Samsung C&T invested $70M in NuScale.
