South Korea's state-run energy company KHNP has chosen Yeongdeok County as a potential site for two new 1,400-MW APR1400 pressurized water reactors. The reactors are scheduled for completion in 2037 and 2038. This marks the first time since 2011 that South Korea has designated new sites for nuclear power plants. The APR1400 was designed by KHNP and Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco).
