Terrestrial Energy completed the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Vendor Design Review Phase 2 in 2023 — a regulatory first for a Generation IV reactor in Canada. The VDR Phase 2 assesses whether a reactor design meets Canadian regulatory requirements in principle before site-specific licensing begins. Completion of VDR Phase 2 makes Terrestrial Energy the most regulatory-advanced Generation IV molten salt reactor developer in Canada and one of the most advanced globally.
