Urenco announced plans in October 2025 to double the scale of its planned expansion at the Almelo uranium enrichment plant. The expansion will provide 1.5 million SWU of extra capacity by 2030. Construction of the new Hall 8 centrifuge hall began in January 2025. Urenco has now committed to 2.5 million SWU of new enrichment capacity globally.
