About

Bluecore Energy is developing small modular, water-cooled nuclear reactors designed to operate aboard floating energy barges, delivering power directly to ports and critical infrastructure rather than requiring new fixed transmission buildout. The company is headquartered inside the Port of Long Beach, California, the first SMR company to establish headquarters within a major U.S. port, and has already built and launched two floating barges. Its initial 10 MWe system is designed to power the equivalent of roughly 15,000 homes, fueled once for years of operation, with a defense-in-depth safety design of five physical barriers. Bluecore is in formal engagement with the NRC, U.S. Coast Guard, and DOT Maritime Administration toward product certification.
