Poland's first small modular reactor is to be constructed in Wloclawek, announced in August 2025. In June 2026, OSGE signed an agreement with the City of Wloclawek for cooperation on construction of up to six BWRX-300 reactors. Environmental and location studies are underway. The first unit is targeted for completion by 2032. Poland's first SMR; selected as a European SMR Alliance project under the European BWRX-300 PWG. OSGE leads a 17-company consortium across 11 countries, and Poland is targeting BWRX-300 deployments at former coal plant sites as part of its coal phase-out strategy. Regulatory engagement with Poland's National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) is underway. On October 22, 2026 Orlen, SGE and OSGE signed an umbrella agreement under which Orlen, as lead investor, controls the project company BWRX-300 Włocławek sp. z o.o. and the plant is built in stages, each with its own schedule, budget and scope; detailed executive agreements are due by the end of 2026 and the first unit is planned for the mid-2030s.
