Poland's state nuclear utility PEJ submitted an application for a construction licence for three AP1000 reactors at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in the Choczewo municipality of Pomerania — Poland's first nuclear power plant. The target date for commercial operation of the first reactor is 2033. In February 2026 the US Export-Import Bank signed a credit agreement with PEJ under the Engineering Multiplier Program — the first phase of financing supporting critical engineering and environmental site work needed before construction. The Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium is performing engineering work. The AP1000 was selected following a rigorous competitive process in which South Korea's KHNP and France's EDF also participated.
