Doel 4 was taken offline 30 June 2025 for long term operation overhaul including inspection, component replacement, and safety improvements. Restarted 8 October 2025 after Belgian Federal Agency for Nuclear Control approval. Action plan approved with remaining measures to be completed by September 2028. Part of 10 year life extension to 2035 under the Engie Belgian state deal with equal ownership joint venture and Contract for Difference mechanism. The new government announced plans to potentially extend operation further to 2045.
