On June 15, 2026, the reactor pressure vessel was installed in the design position at Kudankulam NPP Unit 5 in Tamil Nadu, India. The 300-ton equipment was manufactured at Atommash plant in Volgodonsk, Russia and delivered to the site in 2025. The Open Top method was used for installation. Steam generators, main circulation pumps, and other main equipment are to be installed next. The Kudankulam NPP project is being implemented under an Intergovernmental agreement between India and Russia dating back to 1988.
