Poland's state nuclear utility PEJ formally submitted an application for a construction licence for three AP1000 reactors at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in the Choczewo municipality of Pomerania. This is the most significant nuclear regulatory milestone in Polish history — the first construction licence application for Poland's first nuclear power plant. The Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium is performing the engineering work with EXIM Bank financing covering initial engineering and environmental site work. Commercial operation of the first unit is targeted for 2033.
