Brazil participated in the IAEA Latin America SMR School in Buenos Aires in August 2025, signalling active interest in SMR deployment. Brazil already operates two nuclear reactors (Angra 1 and 2) and is constructing Angra 3. The country is evaluating SMRs for remote Amazon communities and for industrial applications. Brazil's vast territory and large off-grid population make microreactors particularly attractive. Strong uranium resources add strategic interest.
