PT Thorcon Power Indonesia submitted documents to BAPETEN on 13 February 2025 initiating the licensing process for Indonesia's first nuclear power plant. The proposed 500 MWe ThorCon molten salt reactor would be located at Kelasa Island in Central Bangka. The Indonesian government targets 8 GWe of nuclear capacity by 2035.
