Elektrárna Dukovany II is the ČEZ project company established to build two new APR-1000 nuclear units at Dukovany, Czech Republic. On June 4, 2025, EDU II signed a $18.6 billion contract with KHNP for two APR-1000 reactors — construction expected to begin in 2029, trial operations targeted for 2036. The contract covers the option for up to four APR-1000 units total (two additional planned for Temelin). KHNP was selected as preferred bidder in July 2024 after the Czech government changed the tender to binding offers for up to four units. Westinghouse is challenging the award based on intellectual property disputes over KHNP reactor technology.
