About

Fermi Inc., operating as Fermi America, is developing Project Matador, a planned 17 GW private power and AI data centre campus on roughly 8,400 acres in the Texas Panhandle, adjacent to the DOE's Pantex complex. The campus combines natural gas turbines for near-term capacity, nuclear power as long-horizon baseload, and solar-plus-battery storage as bridge capacity, with roughly 6 GW already permitted. The company was founded January 10, 2025 by former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Toby Neugebauer, and Griffin Perry, and relocated its corporate headquarters to Dallas as part of a 2026 restructuring ("Fermi 2.0") that followed the departure of founding CEO Neugebauer.
