Global Nuclear Fuel Americas (GNF-A) is a joint venture of GE Vernova, Hitachi, and Toshiba and the primary fuel supplier for GE-designed boiling water reactors in North America. GNF-A received $3 million from DOE on May 14, 2026 to establish a second BWR fuel rod production line and automate pellet inspection and handling at its Wilmington, NC facility. The investment directly supports the BWRX-300 fuel supply chain for deployments at Darlington (Canada), Clinch River (TVA), and the US-Japan Tennessee/Alabama programme. GNF-A's Wilmington facility is the only US BWR fuel fabrication plant.
