JAVYS is Slovakia's state-owned nuclear and decommissioning company responsible for decommissioning the Jaslovské Bohunice V1 plant and managing spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. JAVYS signed MOUs with Westinghouse in July 2023 for AP300 and AP1000 deployment, and a Framework Cooperation Agreement with EDF in August 2025 for large reactors and SMRs. Slovakia's deep nuclear expertise and existing infrastructure — it operates two nuclear plants — make JAVYS a credible potential SMR operator.
