Moltex Energy Canada is developing the Stable Salt Reactor-Wasteburner, a 300 MW molten salt fast reactor that uses recycled nuclear waste as fuel, coupled with the WATSS process for converting used uranium oxide fuel into molten salt reactor fuel. The demonstration unit is planned for NB Powers Point Lepreau site in New Brunswick. The WATSS process was validated on used CANDU fuel at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. The company has a Service Level Agreement with the CNSC for pre-licensing consultation.
