Nuclearelectrica SA is Romania's state nuclear utility operating the two-unit Cernavodă CANDU nuclear plant (1,400 MW combined) — Romania's largest electricity source. Nuclearelectrica is the 50% majority state-sector co-owner of RoPower Nuclear alongside Nova Power & Gas (E-Infra). On February 12, 2026, Nuclearelectrica shareholders approved the FID for the Doicești NuScale VOYGR-6 project — six 77 MWe modules at the former coal plant site, 90km northwest of Bucharest. Nuclearelectrica is also pursuing a second unit at Cernavodă (CANDU refurbishment and Units 3/4).
