Nuward is EDF's flagship 170 MWe SMR — a pressurised water reactor at Step 3 of the French ASNR regulatory review (pre-instruction stage) where ASN will deliver an opinion on main safety options. Nuward is supported by a French industrial consortium including EDF, TechnicAtome, Naval Group, and Framatome. The design is being pursued internationally in partnerships with Italy's Edison/ENEA and India. Nuward is the primary industrial beneficiary of France's France 2030 €1 billion SMR investment.
