Orano Enrichment USA is the American subsidiary of French nuclear fuel cycle company Orano SA and the developer of Project IKE — a multibillion-dollar gas centrifuge uranium enrichment facility near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The NRC formally accepted Project IKE's licence application for an accelerated 12-month review on May 21, 2026, with completion targeted April 30, 2027. Project IKE will produce approximately 7.4 million SWU per year — sufficient to replace all Russian-origin enriched uranium used in US reactors. The $5 billion project is supported by a $900 million DOE award.
