Aalo Atomics is an Austin, Texas company developing sodium-cooled reactors: the experimental Aalo-X and the Aalo-1, which it plans to deploy in 50 MWe Aalo Pod plants of five reactors each. Its Aalo-X Critical Test Reactor, a zero-power physics reactor known as Project First Light, reached criticality at Idaho National Laboratory on 4 July 2026 under the DOE Reactor Pilot Program. Aalo builds its reactors at a 40,000 sq-ft pilot factory in Austin, which it is expanding toward one million square feet.
