TerraPower, co-founded by Bill Gates, is developing the Natrium reactor — a 345 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor with molten salt energy storage that can surge output to 500 MWe during peak demand. The company secured a $650 million funding round and strategic partnerships with data center operator Sabey and engineering firm KBR. NRC construction permit expected by December 2026.
