Candu Energy is the nuclear division of AtkinsRéalis (formerly SNC-Lavalin) and the custodian of CANDU reactor technology used in Canada, South Korea, Romania, India, Argentina, and China. Gary Rose, EVP Nuclear at Candu Energy, stated the company's role in South Korea is to extend Wolseong CANDU units' lives for another 30 years — potentially adding 30 more years to 2,100 MW of CANDU capacity. Candu Energy describes reactor refurbishment as the near-term nuclear growth driver over the next 5-10 years.
