CNNC operates China's HTR-PM pebble-bed reactor (commercial since December 2023) and is constructing the ACP100 Linglong One — the world's first land-based commercial SMR under construction. China is rapidly deploying SMRs with strong government backing, significantly ahead of Western counterparts in actual construction. CNNC is also developing the CAP1000 and next-generation designs.
