In February 2026, Georgia Power and Alabama Power received a $26.5 billion DOE Energy Dominance Financing loan package covering approximately 6 GW of nuclear uprate and life extension work. Georgia Power serves approximately 2.7 million customers and is central to Southern Company's nuclear expansion strategy.
