KGHM Polska Miedź is one of the world's largest producers of copper and silver and a major Polish industrial energy user. KGHM signed a definitive early works agreement with NuScale Power on February 14, 2022 to deploy a VOYGR nuclear power plant of up to 924 MWe in Poland by 2029 — the first SMR deployment agreement in Central and Eastern Europe. An application for a decision-in-principle was submitted to the Polish government in 2023. The Ministry of Climate and Environment approved the plan. KGHM CEO Marcin Chludziński at signing: "KGHM is proud to lead the initiation of a 100% carbon free energy project."
