PSEG Nuclear operates New Jersey's three nuclear reactors: Hope Creek (BWR, 1,174 MWe) and Salem Units 1 and 2 (PWR, approximately 1,174 MWe each) — all on Artificial Island in Lower Alloways Creek Township, Salem County. Combined, they provide 40% of New Jersey's electricity and 80% of its carbon-free energy. PSEG notified the NRC of intent to seek subsequent licence renewals in 2025 with formal applications planned for Q2 2027. New Jersey Governor Sherrill lifted the nuclear moratorium in April 2026 — signed at the Hope Creek plant with PSEG executives present.
