About

Vistra Corporation is a leading competitive US power generator and retailer owning three major nuclear plants in the PJM region acquired in 2024 from Energy Harbor (FirstEnergy's successor): Perry Nuclear (Ohio, 1,268 MW BWR, licensed to 2046); Davis-Besse (Ohio, licensed to 2037); and Beaver Valley (Pennsylvania, approximately 1,800 MW two-unit PWR, licensed to 2036/2047). On January 9, 2026, Vistra and Meta announced 20-year PPAs for 2,609 MW including 433 MW of historic uprates — the largest corporate-backed nuclear uprates in US history. Meta's purchases begin late 2026, with full 2,609 MW by 2034. Vistra will pursue subsequent licence renewals (adding 20 years) for all three plants. As recently as 2020, all three plants were on the path to retirement under FirstEnergy.
