BHAVINI is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy, established to build and operate fast breeder reactors in India. Currently commissioning the 500 MWe Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam which achieved first criticality on 6 April 2026. Government has accorded approval for pre-project activities for 2 x 500 MWe twin FBR 1 and 2 project at Kalpakkam.
