Blykalla is a KTH Royal Institute of Technology spin-off developing the SEALER (Swedish Advanced Lead Reactor) — a lead-cooled SMR targeting industrial heat and municipal district heating applications. In March 2026 Blykalla confirmed it will proceed with planning for a power plant at Norrsundet in Gävle, Sweden. RISE signed an MOU with Blykalla to accelerate development. The lead coolant provides excellent passive safety characteristics and high-temperature heat output suitable for industrial applications.
