IHI Corporation is a leading Japanese engineering corporation with world-class capabilities in manufacturing safety-critical nuclear-grade components for high-temperature gas-cooled reactors — largely unavailable at commercial scale in the United States. IHI signed an MOU with X-energy on March 16, 2026 to expand US-Japan supply chain development for the Xe-100, supporting X-energy's 11 GW commercial pipeline. IHI brings established relationships with Japanese materials suppliers and component manufacturers and extensive HTGR manufacturing expertise from Japan's HTTR research reactor programme.
