Kairos Power is a U.S. nuclear technology, engineering, and manufacturing company commercializing the KP-FHR, a fluoride salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor using TRISO pebble fuel and Flibe molten-fluoride-salt coolant in a low-pressure design. Its most significant recent development was the 2026-04-17 groundbreaking of Hermes 2 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, its first commercial-scale, power-producing demonstration plant. Kairos says Hermes 2 is planned to provide up to 50 MWe to the Tennessee Valley Authority grid; the NRC issued its construction permits on 2024-11-21.
