NextEra Energy is the world's largest electric utility and signed a 25-year PPA with Google on October 28, 2025 to restart Iowa's 615 MWe Duane Arnold Energy Center nuclear plant by 2029 — one of three US nuclear restarts underway alongside Three Mile Island (Microsoft/Constellation) and Palisades (Holtec). NextEra was granted permission to reconnect Duane Arnold to the grid in September 2025. NextEra CEO John Ketchum: "Our partnership with Google not only brings nuclear energy back to Iowa — it also accelerates the development of next-generation nuclear technology." NextEra and Google also signed a separate agreement to explore new nuclear generation development nationally.
