Nuclearelectrica is Romania's nuclear-power company, operating Cernavoda Units 1 and 2 and manufacturing natural-uranium CANDU 6 fuel bundles through its FCN Pitesti branch. Its core technology focus is the CANDU 6 heavy-water reactor, including plant operation, fuel production, Unit 1 refurbishment, and planned additional units at Cernavoda. On October 8, 2025, it signed agreements with EDF Group subsidiaries to advance the Unit 1 refurbishment and Lutetium-177 medical-radioisotope production at Cernavoda.
